2021-22 Winter Operations Have Closed For The Season

On behalf of the Ragged Mountain staff, we thank you all for another successful and memorable winter season of fantastic skiing and riding together! Our team came together to overcome a mild winter with limited natural snow and was able to provide the quality snow surfaces and guest experience we have come to love about our mountain. Our spring signature event series saw record attendance and left lasting impressions for all those who participated. Be sure to check out our Pond Skim video on YouTube, shot in ultra slow motion with a Phantom Flex camera!

As the snow melts away our Mountain Ops and Ski Patrol teams are cleaning up Ragged and Spear peaks and putting them to rest. Ski touring is permitted, but please respect that it is 'AT YOUR OWN RISK' and there are many hazards throughout both mountains, please be mindful that they are not patrolled. We are now looking forward to a summer full of weddings and celebrations! So the time has come to put that last thick coat of wax on your skis and boards and set them aside for the months to come. Many exciting new capital improvements will be happening this summer and we look forward to having our community back at beautiful Ragged Mountain next winter!

2022-23 Mission: Affordable Season Passes are available NOW for $479 - make sure you commit to skiing and riding with us next season and lock in at one of the most affordable season passes in all of New England!

2021-22 Winter Season Is Underway!

Winter season 2021-22 set to start with top to bottom skiing and 30 acres of terrain

DANBURY, NEW HAMPSHIRE – Ragged Mountain Resort opens for the 2021-22 winter season Friday, December 3 from 9:00am to 4:00pm. Operations continue Saturday and Sunday from 8:30am – 4:00pm and return to regular operating hours seven days per week on Monday, December 6. Top to bottom skiing will be available for all ability levels serviced by New Hampshire’s only high-speed detachable six-person chairlift and the Meadows beginner learning area. The resort plans to have 7 trails and 30 acres of skiable terrain on a base depth of 24-36” with additional terrain available as snowmaking progresses.

Erik Barnes, Ragged Mountain’s General Manager, commented on the outstanding early season conditions saying, “Our snowmaking and grooming crews have done an exceptional job in preparing the mountain. The early season mild weather was challenging, but when Mother Nature cooperated with cold temperatures and natural snowfall, we were more than ready to make snow at every possible opportunity.”

In an effort to manage the ongoing Covid-19 risk for the 2021-22 winter season, Ragged Mountain encourages all guests to follow guidelines set forth by the State of New Hampshire and local health authorities. These guidelines encourage wearing a face mask where adequate social distancing is impractical or if unvaccinated. Lifts will operate at full capacity and masks are not required while riding or waiting in lines. Guests should purchase lift tickets online in advance and utilize contactless pick-up boxes and the resort’s mobile app for food & beverage orders whenever possible. And yes, you can once again boot up in the lodges!

Early season lift ticket rates will be in effect at $65 for adults and teens, and $49 for juniors and seniors. Elmwood and Meetinghouse Lodges will be open to the public and The Learning Center will be offering private lessons only at this time. For the most up-to-date conditions, lift operations, and trail openings visit Ragged Mountain’s Snow Report. All operations are subject to weather.

Ragged Welcomes Our New General Manager - Erik Barnes

Erik Barnes has been named general manager of Ragged Mountain ski area in New Hampshire. Barnes replaces resort industry veteran Jay Gamble who recently accepted the role of general manager at Wintergreen Resort in Virginia. Both resorts are operated by Park City, Utah based Pacific Group Resorts, Inc. Barnes previously served as the vice president and general manager of Mount Snow in Dover, Vermont and brings over 20 years of mountain resort leadership experience to the role.

During his tenure at Mount Snow, Barnes held the position of ski school director and was also in charge of resort services for Crotched Mountain in New Hampshire. He was promoted to head of resort operations in 2008 which included managing ski school, the racing and training center, guest services, rental operations, and ticketing. Barnes became the vice president and general manager of Mount Snow in 2017 and oversaw operations and business development for the publicly traded Peak Resort’s flagship 600-acre ski resort along with its 18-hole championship golf course, lodging properties, and all revenue centers.

Vern Greco, CEO of Pacific Group Resorts, Inc., commented on Barnes’ arrival saying, “We’re really very fortunate to be able to bring someone with Erik’s talents and experience to Ragged Mountain. His previous general management tenure and resort leadership results in the Northeast are a great fit for us. They put him in a strong position to continue the positive momentum we have at Ragged Mountain and will ensure a seamless transition from the great work of Jay Gamble who has a big job ahead of him at Wintergreen.”

Barnes noted “With expanded snowmaking and the successful Mission: Affordable season pass program, it’s an exciting time to lead the team at Ragged Mountain as it transitions to a noteworthy mid-sized New England ski area with potential for more growth and future expansion plans.” He further explained what attracted him to the Danbury resort, “Ragged Mountain has developed an impressive track record of creating new skiers and snowboarders through the Bebe Wood Free Learn-to-Ski or Ride Program and catering to families who appreciate the mountain and its laid-back vibe. They have been doing a lot of good things here, and I am very pleased to be in a position to take Ragged Mountain to its next level of progress.”

Ragged Mountain has been honored by the National Ski Areas Association for attracting new participants to snow sports and successfully converting them from first timers to season pass holders. Families and the next generation of skiers and snowboarders have embraced Ragged Mountain for uncrowded slopes, high-speed chairlifts, and easy-to-navigate layout. The resort features two distinct peaks, 250 acres of classic New England trails, and the only detachable six-person chairlift in New Hampshire.

Fall And The Anticipation Of Winter

We are officially into the fall season and the excitement for skiing and snowboarding is beginning to build! The team has done a tremendous job getting the base area the best it has looked in years and we are looking forward to sharing it with you. We have been fortunate enough to host many gorgeous weddings over the course of summer and will continue every weekend through November 6th.

WHAT'S NEW:  For the 2021-22 winter season we have improved on our snowmaking coverage and efficiency and we purchased some new equipment for mountain operations. Elmwood and Meetinghouse Lodges received exterior and interior renovations, and our F&B departments received some new appliances along with kitchen enhancements.

HARVEST PARTY POSTPONED:  Every Autumn, the Team at Ragged Mountain Resort looks forward to welcoming our valued Season Passholders to the mountain to celebrate the coming of winter, and give appreciation for their loyalty with the Annual Harvest Party.  Due to some extenuating circumstances, the Harvest Party will be rescheduled at a later date this season.  We are looking forward to a great ski season ahead, and are in full preparation mode at this time. Thank you for your understanding, and we are excited to see your smiling faces once the snow begins to fly!

Our job fairs are coming up, this is your opportunity to work where most people come to play! We are looking to fill roles in all departments and our full management team will be present for your chance to interview and apply. 2021 SUMMER PROJECTS

The middle of August is now upon us, days are starting to get shorter and believe it or not, several trees are beginning to change color on the slopes of Ragged Mountain. Our staff have been hard at work painting the Elmwood and Meetinghouse Lodges, servicing the chairlifts, and maintaining a busy wedding calendar. Just last week we installed four additional T40 snowmaking fan guns on Lower Village Green - this should substantially help snow production in one of the most vital locations on the mountain. The mountain operations team will soon be on the ski trails preparing the grounds for snowfall, how exciting!

We recently hosted the Ragged 50K endurance running race with over 250 registered racers from all over the United States. And we are planning our Harvest Party season pass holder appreciation event on Sunday, October 10 from 12:00pm to 4:00pm - be sure to mark your calendar!

2021-22 Mission: Affordable XTRA Season Passes are available NOW for $499 until October 10th. Make the wise decision and invest in yourself - enjoy skiing and riding with us this winter with one of the most affordable season passes in all of New England!

2020 - 21 Winter Operations Are Now Closed For The Season

Ragged Mountain Resort just wrapped up a winter season for the record books! With the unprecedented challenges of operating in the midst of a pandemic, our team rose to the occasion and provided a safe, fulfilling season of high quality skiing and snowboarding. We could not have done it without you! On behalf of all of our staff, we truly appreciate you respecting all the unique policies and logistical changes we enforced this winter. How about that RECORD-BREAKING SNOWSTORM! Ragged Mountain received the second highest recorded snowfall in the history of New Hampshire, literally one inch shy of Mount Washington's forty-nine inches in a single storm! So many fond memories from this past seasons adventures with family and friends.

As spring has sprung Mountain Operations and Ski Patrol are cleaning up Ragged and Spear peaks and putting them to rest. Ski touring is permitted, but please respect that it is 'AT YOUR OWN RISK' and there are many hazards throughout the two mountains and be mindful that they are not patrolled. We look forward to a summer full of weddings and ceremonies. The time has come to put that last thick coat of wax on your boards and put them away to rest. Many exciting new things will be happening next winter and we are thrilled to see all of your smiling faces once again at beautiful Ragged Mountain.

A Letter From Our General Manager

Dear Winter Enthusiast,

As somebody who has long been committed to an active outdoor lifestyle, particularly as a skier, I can honestly say there has never been a time when I anticipated the arrival of ski season more than this year. The magic of winter - snow silently falling, the sharp bite of winter on the face and the excitement of linking turns on every unique run are always special. This year it’s safe to say “special” could be expanded to include therapeutic. In a sense, we need this ski season for our emotional and physical well-being as much as for our enjoyment. We believe recreation is one of the essential food groups - now more than ever.

I want to share Ragged Mountain Resort’s plans for the upcoming ski season. There has been so much uncertainty since the Covid-19 pandemic first upended our lives. Among the many lessons learned are the importance of clear and consistent communication, the setting of realistic expectations, and the need for tolerance for unexpected changes.

The embrace of all these lessons is going to be critical to a successful ski season, as is the recognition we’re all in this together. A collective effort must be part of the foundation for success as we strive to balance the safety of our guests, employees and the local communities in which we operate our business.

In addition to following all CDC and local regulations, Ragged Mountain will require face coverings, will make the necessary changes to allow for physical distancing, and will closely monitor employee health including requiring employees to stay home if they are sick. Similarly, we encourage guests to not visit if they are not feeling well or have any symptoms of Covid-19.  We will implement additional precautions related to ski school, rental equipment, food and beverage, and hospitality as further outlined below.

Ragged plans to open for the winter season on Friday, November 27, 2020. As always, this depends on weather, but our summer work prioritized the readiness of the snowmaking system and our hope is for an on time opening.

As you know, capacity restrictions have been one of the tools used to manage the spread of the novel corona virus. Skiing and riding at Ragged Mountain takes place on over 250 acres ensuring the opportunity to safely recreate. Nevertheless, we will adhere to any limitations imposed by State and local authorities. To what extent we might be required to limit on-mountain capacities is still unknown, however, we are confident any restrictions will be on a limited number of days and all guests will have access on the vast majority of days.

Season pass holders will be our highest priority in managing any on-mountain capacity restrictions. It is our intention to allow pass holders to ski any day the resort is open without reservations or other exceptional requirements. Our primary means to control capacity will be done by limiting the sale of daily lift tickets.

It is possible we may need to control the number of skiers, including pass holders, in the event there is limited terrain open. In such case, Ragged Mountain will implement an online advance reservation system and requirements for reservations will be communicated on the web site, via email, and on the resort app. Pass holders are strongly encouraged to download the resort app and enable push messaging. This will be the quickest and most certain way to stay abreast of changes of any kind.

Face coverings will be required to access the mountain, including in the base area, in lift lines and while loading, unloading and riding on chairlifts.  Face coverings will be required in every part of our operation including inside all buildings and during all ski and snowboard lessons.  We are asking everyone to support these necessary changes and cooperate with resort workers who are in the challenging role of ensuring everyone’s safety. Guests who don’t comply with the guidelines will be asked to leave.

First and foremost, we will manage the number of people on the mountain. We will do everything possible and practical to allow for physical distancing throughout the resort to help ensure a safe experience. Additionally, we will load lifts maintaining social distancing guidelines applicable to each individual lift configuration. We will also manage the number of people entering buildings including base lodges and restaurants in accordance with local guidelines. Currently the maximum number of people allowed indoors in a gathering space is about a 50% capacity since tables must be 6 feet apart with no more than 6 chairs per table. This number may change between now and the beginning of ski season or even during the season. We are working to expand areas to comfortably accommodate guests while maintaining distancing requirements and revising menus and service levels that strike a balance between safety, forced capacity limits, and reasonable hospitality. Some of the “new norms” we all have embraced over the summer - online ordering, takeout, grab-and-go and outdoor dining - will be in place for the winter.

Ski school is an important part of every mountain operation because it introduces people to the sport and helps them improve so the sport is more enjoyable.  Our teaching professionals are always committed to safety and enjoyment while learning, and this season that will be highlighted more than ever.  Ski and snowboard school formats will be revised to accommodate either small groups or individual self-paced learning options. Advance reservations will be required for all lessons and programs.

Children’s on-snow programs will be the subject of particular emphasis with small class sizes and minimal exposure to larger group settings.

Equipment rental will be available exclusively online with advance reservations. Pick up and drop off of equipment may be modified to accommodate social distancing and to limit the number of people in confined spaces.

There is no avoiding the fact that navigating your way around the resort will be different this winter. Compared to the alternative of no ski season, I hope you’ll agree the changes are manageable and worth any inconvenience.

Our web site, raggedmountainresort.com will be updated regularly with the latest info on restrictions and other important information. The resort app, available for both iOS or Android DOWNLOAD HERE, will be one of the best ways to stay informed through notifications and current status updates.

Advance planning and online advance purchases will be more important than ever. Most products will only be available online in advance. Knowing what to expect when you arrive will go a long way toward minimizing confusion and frustration.

Finally, for those who purchased a season pass for this year but are still uncertain about their preferences this winter, please remember there is the option to defer the use of that pass until next season:

  • Anyone who buys a Mission: Affordable season pass for the 2020/2021 season can choose to request to defer the use of the pass until the 2021/2022 season.
  • The request must be made by sending an email stating the request between October 1st and November 25th, 2020, and the request must include the pass holder name and the number on the pass.
  • This is not an offer of a cash refund or any other credit offer and only applies to the one-time deferral of a 2020/2021 season pass in exchange for a 2021/2022 season pass.
  • The pass will be moved to the 2021/2022 winter season at no charge, regardless of a season pass price increase.

As you can see, we are planning lots of changes with the objective of making us all safer and more comfortable this ski season.  While some of the changes will be a little inconvenient, we think it is a small price to accept for safety and the opportunity to have a great season on the slopes.  I look forward to seeing you soon.

Sincerely,

  Signature

General Manager

Amidst The Heat Of Summer

As the traditional Yankee saying goes, July 4th marks the beginning of preparation for winter here in New England. Mid-summer is now behind us and our staff are hard at work servicing our lifts, chairs, grounds, snowmaking system and equipment.

During these unprecedented times, we are blessed to be in an industry that is based outdoors in the mountains. The abundance of birds, wildlife, along with wildflowers peaking are sentiment of what we love about beautiful Ragged Mountain! If you get the opportunity be sure to check out the SRKG - Sunapee, Ragged, Kearsarge Greenway hiking trails. Just beyond our New Hampshire Mountain Inn off of New Canada Rd. is a small parking lot to gain access. This is an awesome opportunity to exercise outdoors, safely social distance and appreciate the views Ragged Mountain has to offer.

Coronavirus Mission: Four'dable 4-Pack Resolution

The coronavirus has disrupted life for pretty much everyone around the world, and our resorts are among the affected operations.  The corona-crisis only impacted a small portion of our season, but it was enough that some of those who purchased our Mission: Four’dable 4-packs (M:4) might not have had a chance to use all of the lift tickets included.

In the past, any unused lift tickets (including Mission: Four’dable) have expired at the end of a ski season but because of the extenuating circumstances involved with the coronavirus, we have decided to allow up to two unredeemed M:4 tickets from this season to be used next season before (or on) Dec 24, 2020.  Those qualifying tickets from this year will need to be taken to the ticket office after November 1, 2020, along with your ID to be exchanged for tickets that will work next season.

Alternatively, because of the unprecedented interruptions caused by the coronavirus, up to two unredeemed M:4 tickets from this season can be appended to a new M:4 purchased for next year and may be used anytime next season.  Those tickets qualifying for exchange should be taken to the ticket office after November 1, 2020, along with your ID to be added to the newly purchased M:4 for the 2020/2021 season.

The 2019/2020 season had some great conditions, and some challenges, but we managed to get in the vast majority of a normal season even with the coronavirus caused shut down.  Most importantly, we noticed time and again families, friends, and even those who enjoy being solo on the slopes, enjoying the improvements at Ragged Mountain and being out in the fresh mountain air more than ever before.  It’s unfortunate the coronavirus has been a major disruption for everyone, including the entire ski industry, and we hope this one-time extension of the M:4 program helps ease the inconvenience a bit.

While normally all M:4 tickets strictly expire at the end the season for which they were issued, the corona-crisis is anything but normal.  Allowing the extension of up to two of the unused tickets is our way of helping you get the most out of your time on the mountain.  We value you as a customer, we appreciate you as a patron, and we look forward to seeing you on the slopes at Ragged Mountain next season.

Stay healthy and ski safe!

Guest Services in a COVID-19 World

Update: March 26

The coronavirus has created a number of unique challenges.  One of those is how to continue to serve our guests while also helping to protect their health and the health of our wonderful staff.  We take both the service of our customers and the coronavirus safety concerns very seriously, so in order to protect our employees, our guests, and our communities, we are following CDC guidelines along with federal and state mandates for non-essential business operations in this most unusual of times.

To meet our dual objectives, while we are not open for normal in-person business transactions at the resort, we are available for business online, by telephone, or by email. We have staff working (mostly from home) who can respond to your needs and assist you with purchases and reservations so you can enjoy the fresh mountain air here in the not-too-distant future.  Please check our website frequently for the latest updates and answers to your questions, and contact us if we can assist you.

We hope everyone can be safe and healthy as we all follow social distancing and stay-at-home  protocols to get through this corona-crisis.

Hiking Trails Near Ragged Mountain

Hiking Trails Near Ragged Mountain - Stay Outdoors in All Four Seasons

Ragged Mountain is known for its 1,250 feet of vertical drop, great skiing, Terrain Park, wedding venue, and beautiful lodging. What is often overlooked are the various and gorgeous hikes in close proximity. This article is meant to point out some of the best hikes to help you enjoy the Ragged Mountain area even more.

Views of Ragged Mountain from Mount Cardigan

Trails at Ragged Mountain

Ragged Mountain itself is a gorgeous, moderately difficult hike with views of nearby Newfound Lake, Mount Cardigan, Mount Moosilaukee, and other New Hampshire peaks. Hikers can choose to ascend Ragged Mountain, Ragged Mountain West Peak, and Balanced Rock (correctly named), from Ragged Mountain Ski Area via the skiing trails, the New Canada Road Trailhead, or the Proctor Academy Trailhead.

The trails outside the ski slopes are a part of the Sunapee Ragged Kearsarge Greenway trail network that is a 75 mile loop trail system that connects summits, state parks, and state forests in central New Hampshire.

Nearby Mountains

Ragged is located only an hour south of Franconia Notch where there is access to Franconia Ridge, and many other NH 4,000 footers, the below list of hikes are all within a 30 minute drive, and have excellent views.

Mount Cardigan

Mount Cardigan Views

Cardigan is a stunning and relatively quick hike suitable for active families. With a 3 mile round trip, it is doable in only a few hours, and delivers incredible views at the summit. Rising 3,155 feet above sea level, Cardigan is a frequently trafficked family hike.

The most common route up is via the West Ridge Trail located at the end of Cardigan Mountain road. The trail features a lot of exposed steep granite near the summit and can be slippery when wet or icy.

Mount Kearsarge

The trailhead to mount Kearsarge, a 2,937 foot mountain, is located less than 30 minutes away from Ragged Mountain. Kearsarge is located within two state parks, Winslow State park, and Rollins State Park. This gives hikers and families a ton of opportunities for outdoor activities beyond summiting Kearsarge.

The summit of Kearsarge features a fire tower that enables visitors to see as far south as Boston on a clear day, and also see many more mountains to the north.

Parking is located at the Winslow State Park Picnic area where there are two options to hike to the summit, the Barlow Trail, and the Winslow Trail. Each are moderate options, and are often both done (one up, one down). The Winslow Trail is 1.1 miles to the summit, and the Barlow Trail is 1.7 miles to the summit.

Hikers can also choose to hike up the other side of Kearsarge from Rollins State Park (a .5 mile hike). However, this is a slightly longer drive from Ragged Mountain.

Danbury Bog Wildlife Management Area

Danbury Bog Wildlife Management Area is located just a short 10 minute drive from Ragged, and is a fantastic family picnic, birdwatching, canoeing, and short hiking area. If you like canoeing, kayaking, birds, frogs, turtles, and other pond wildlife, this is a great spot to visit.

Lake Sunapee

Lake Sunapee may not be the best hiking spot, but for those that love beautiful lakes and boating, it is great to know that the lake is only a short 30 minute drive from Ragged Mountain. Looking for a beach day? Lake Sunapee State Park is only about 40 minutes away from Ragged.

The Rest of New Hampshire

This is by no means a complete list of all of the great outdoor places to visit within a short drive of Ragged Mountain. Not only is there far more within 30 minutes, but if you are willing to drive an hour to an hour and a half, New Hampshire has some absolutely incredible short and easy, as well as long and strenuous hikes for all ability levels.

Back To Winter!

After the quick thaw that Mother Nature threw our way, we're happy to be staring at a forecast for the coming week that looks a lot more like winter! Headed into the weekend, we're looking forward to sunny skies with temperatures in the upper 20's to mid 30's. Talk about a difference from the 50 degree day we had on Thursday!

With the return to cold temperatures, anyone who visited us today may have noticed some snowmakers scurrying around to get Exhibition set back up for snowmaking operations. Following the warm weather, they're going to be working hard to help build up some more of those piles. Our groomers will be working hard too, pushing around the new snow and laying down that beautiful corduroy that we all love so much. Even with those warm temps and that clear precipitation, our surface is skiing as good as ever!

We're also amped about all the hard work that the Terrain Park Crew has been putting in over on Wild Side and Wild Ride. The top half of the terrain park is scheduled to open up tomorrow with three jumps and a hip. The team has certainly outdone themselves over there this year, and we're looking forward to seeing you all get sendy in the park. Be sure to mention @ragged_parks on Instagram, and as always, we'll see you on the slopes!

2 Inches To Help Refresh!

A nice little refresh was granted to us last night by Mother Nature, who dropped a new 2” of snow across Ragged. The temps will also drop tonight allowing Snowmaking to pick back up and spread some more across the lower portions of Ragged. The plan right now is to do some resurface work on Ragged Peak providing a bit more coverage to Newfound and Village Green. They will also be working to connect the dots by finishing off Lower Chutte, and adding Pines, Sunnyside, and Upper Crew Cut. This, along with pushing out Showboat and Showoff, will certainly make for another great weekend of skiing ahead of us!

We’re still rocking some great early season ticket deals with our Adult tickets at $69, Teens are $50, and Junior tickets are $45 all weekend long. But, you need to check out our Mission: Four'dable Quad Pack. How We're Working to Improve Your Experience!

Work has begun on building a new Guest Services area in what was known as the Discovery Center. Ticketing, season pass pick-up and general information will all move to the new space better suited to making your experience easier and faster. But, that’s not the only way we’re going to improve tickets and season passes.

The best part for you is Ragged Mountain's new partnership established with Team Axess, a leading manufacturer of ticketing and access management systems based in Austria. Axess currently has roughly 18,000 gates installed worldwide with more than 106 million active RFID cards. Their most notable ski resort installations include Killington, Sugarbush, Alta, and Snowbird, plus our neighbors Gunstock and Mount Sunapee. This partnership with Axess will allow us to more effectively serve you by providing you with a unique, reloadable RFID card granting you access to any lift without the need to stop by Guest Services once you've picked up your card.

Once you've picked up your $5, unique RFID card at Guest Services you can then reload it with everything from a Mission: Affordable season pass, to day tickets, and the new 4 hour flex ticket! It’s all about speeding up the process of getting you from your car to the lift as fast as possible.

Bebe Wood, the 2018 Ski NH Lifetime Achievement Award Recipient

As she sat, enjoying her Tuckerman’s Pale Ale, Bebe Wood had little clue as to why she was asked to attend the annual Ski New Hampshire conference. But to her surprise she was there to be honored with this year’s Lifetime Achievement Award. Her surprise was shared by all as her loud gasp, upon learning that she was this year’s recipient, was followed by cheers of a crowd who in some way, shape, or form, had all been touched by Bebe and her dedication to sharing our wonderful sport with as many people as possible.

As Ryan Schramm explained in his presentation of the award “Bebe is a true Ski Bum”, having spent her entire life enjoying the sport. Growing up in Marblehead, MA, Bebe and her siblings taught themselves how to ski at a nearby golf course. By the late 30’s she and her sister were making trips to Cranmore, NH and within the next decade Bebe would become a pioneer of the growing counter culture of the “ski bum”. In 1950 Bebe, living in Sun Valley, Idaho was featured as one of the models for a skiing article that ran in a February issue of Life Magazine.

In the early 60’s she and her husband moved to Bristol, NH where they introduced their children to the joys of skiing. In 1965, when Ragged Mountain Resort opened, Bebe was a natural fit as the Director of the Junior Program designed to introduce local school children to the sport. Bebe served as the head of the Courtesy Patrol through the new millennium until her retirement. Today she is still an active member of the Ragged Mountain Resort community as a host on the weekends. Skiers and Riders from all ages and all areas are greeted warmly with a smile and sometimes a hug as they enter the Elmwood Lodge.

A wealth of knowledge both of the mountain and of the industry, Bebe enjoys her role as the mountain’s ambassador of the newly formed Bebe Wood Free Learn to Ski & Ride Program. Named in her honor as a testament to her desire to introduce new folks to this wonderful sport, the Bebe Wood Program has introduced over 2000 people to skiing and riding, completely free of charge, in its first two years of operation.

We are so happy to congratulate Bebe on her award, and couldn’t think of a more fitting person to be recognized as the 2018 Ski NH Lifetime Achievement Award Recipient.
