Training begins when the mountain opens and continues until mid to late March. This is the primary RMST program open to U10 through U19 age skiers on Saturday and Sunday from 8:30 AM to 2:00 PM with extra training opportunities during vacation weeks and holiday periods.

Coaching will focus on early season fundamentals and prepares RMST racers for NH divisional, scored, open, and state championship races.

Regional, National, or International Championship level events may incur extra coaching fees to cover coaches’ travel expenses. Race entry fees are the responsibility of the athlete/parent and require USSA and NHARA memberships.

This is the only program available for racers wishing to take part in USSA races. Groups are formed by USSA age categories. Coaching constraints may limit participation, but coaches will make every effort to accommodate all athletes. Skiers in this group must have the ability to ski all groomed terrain at Ragged Mountain Resort safely and ride lifts unattended.

Our Master’s program offers a combination of guided free-skiing drills to enhance skill building with gate training. Our mid-week training provides an opportunity for more focused gate training under a qualified coach. Mid-week training consists of gate training with video review when appropriate.

Sign up for both programs to create a very comprehensive Masters training schedule! These programs are perfect for adults who want to experience the fun and excitement of racing.

The program will focus on skiing fundamentals, including stance, turn shape, parallel position, and transitions between turns. Once achieved and comfortable on skis, we will focus on gate drills for technical events (SL and GS).

There is also potential for speed training using speed elements on specified runs. All designed drills will be up to the coach and athletes based on skill development, technique, and tactics.

While a formal background in racing is not required, participants must have advanced skills to ski all groomed terrain and in all conditions.

Commitment and time depend on the participants’ wants and competitive needs.

Participation in events aren’t required but will be open for those interested and will be what is listed by both USSA and NEMS.

Master’s programs begin in early December and conclude mid to late March. Trainings are on Saturdays from 8:30 AM to 2:30 PM or on Tuesdays from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM.

Prep for the Slopes

Whether its your first time or the 100th on the slopes, you need to be prepared. Here’s how to make the best of playing at Ragged Mountain!

  • Bring outerwear that is waterproof or water-resistant.
  • Always dress in layers. You can always shed layers if you are too warm, but you cannot add extra layers if you don’t come prepared!
  • Bring one pair of thin, wool, or acrylic socks for your lesson. Be sure that they are long enough to extend up above your ski or snowboard boot. Forget to bring good socks? We have socks available for purchase at Sport Thoma in the Elmwood Lodge.
  • We recommend you wear a helmet to protect your head from falls. Helmets are also one of the warmest things you can put on your head!
  • Be sure to bring a face mask, neck warmer, balaclava, or head sock if it’s chilly and/or windy.
  • Goggles to protect your eyes from the snow and wind.

If you are participating in a lesson or the Bebe Wood Program, go to the Meetinghouse Lodge – the big, white, four-story lodge building with the green roof.

Enter this lodge through the double doors just to the right at the top of the stairs from the parking lot. Take a right when you enter our Learning Center, where someone from the Ski School will greet you!

Our rental department is located on the ground level of the Meetinghouse Lodge. The entrance is around the right-hand corner of the building.

Skier Etiquette

To earn the respect of fellow skiers and riders, we urge you to follow these guidelines:

  • Adhere to all signage at the resort. Skiing on closed trails or beyond out-of-bound markers is not permitted and may encourage others to do the same. This behavior will result in the loss of your pass.
  • Listen to any and all ski patrollers on the hill.
  • Remember that anyone in front of you should be given the right of way.
  • When boarding the lift, listen to the lift attendants on duty. This includes those in the lift lines and those helping you board the lift.
  • While on the lift, sit all the way back in the chair and use the safety bar when available.
  • Please do not throw things from the lift.
  • When you unload the lift, quickly move away from the unloading zone.
