Prep for the Slopes

Whether its your first time or the 100th on the slopes, you need to be prepared. Here’s how to make the best of playing at Ragged Mountain!

  • Bring outerwear that is waterproof or water-resistant.
  • Always dress in layers. You can always shed layers if you are too warm, but you cannot add extra layers if you don’t come prepared!
  • Bring one pair of thin, wool, or acrylic socks for your lesson. Be sure that they are long enough to extend up above your ski or snowboard boot. Forget to bring good socks? We have socks available for purchase at Sport Thoma in the Elmwood Lodge.
  • We recommend you wear a helmet to protect your head from falls. Helmets are also one of the warmest things you can put on your head!
  • Be sure to bring a face mask, neck warmer, balaclava, or head sock if it’s chilly and/or windy.
  • Goggles to protect your eyes from the snow and wind.

If you are participating in a lesson or the Bebe Wood Program, go to the Meetinghouse Lodge – the big, white, four-story lodge building with the green roof.

Enter this lodge through the double doors just to the right at the top of the stairs from the parking lot. Take a right when you enter our Learning Center, where someone from the Ski School will greet you!

Our rental department is located on the ground level of the Meetinghouse Lodge. The entrance is around the right-hand corner of the building.

Skier Etiquette

To earn the respect of fellow skiers and riders, we urge you to follow these guidelines:

  • Adhere to all signage at the resort. Skiing on closed trails or beyond out-of-bound markers is not permitted and may encourage others to do the same. This behavior will result in the loss of your pass.
  • Listen to any and all ski patrollers on the hill.
  • Remember that anyone in front of you should be given the right of way.
  • When boarding the lift, listen to the lift attendants on duty. This includes those in the lift lines and those helping you board the lift.
  • While on the lift, sit all the way back in the chair and use the safety bar when available.
  • Please do not throw things from the lift.
  • When you unload the lift, quickly move away from the unloading zone.
