Danbury, N.H. — November 6, 2025 — A new chapter has begun at Ragged Mountain Resort with the completion of its sale to SF Mountain Co, LLC (SFMC), a group of local investors with lifelong ties to the mountain. The new owners, many of whom first met as kids skiing Ragged’s slopes, have pledged to preserve the resort’s character while investing in its future as a year-round mountain destination.
Erik Barnes will continue in his role as General Manager, ensuring consistency for staff and guests through the winter and overseeing day-to-day operations under the new ownership. “Ragged has come a long way in the last 18 years, and I’m proud of what we’ve built with our team,” said Barnes.
“This transition brings in a group that deeply understands the mountain and the community around it, and I’m looking forward to helping carry that vision forward”.
While this marks the end of Pacific Group Resorts’ (PGR) management role, the company is assisting with the transition through the start of the 2025–26 ski season to ensure continuity for employees and guests.
All season pass products and reciprocal benefits with PGR, including access to Jay Peak, Wisp, Mt. Washington Alpine Resort, Wintergreen, and Powderhorn, will be honored for the entire 2025–26 season. Passholders will see no disruption in access or benefits this winter. Fully transferable any day Mission Affordable 4-Packs continue to be for sale on the company website.
Local Roots, Long-Term Vision
SFMC is led by six close friends who grew up skiing at Ragged and have deep ties to Danbury and the surrounding region. The group includes experienced professionals from across the outdoor industry and business
world, united by a shared goal to keep Ragged rooted in community, maintain affordability, and promote outdoor recreation in one of New England’s most pristine locations.
“Ragged shaped our lives in a really personal way,” said Tristan Witman, a partner in SFMC. “Ragged has always been more than a ski area—it’s been a community,” said Carl Rominger of SFMC. “We’re committed to building on what makes this place special—great skiing, great people, and a genuine New Hampshire mountain experience.”
The group has outlined early priorities including employee retention, local partnerships, and exploring options for year-round mountain use. Expect further updates from SFMC and Ragged later in the season.
