Happy Saturday! Today is going to be mostly clear with temperatures in the upper 30's, which is fantastic news for everything we have going on around the resort. A few trail updates: Flying Yankee will have race training on it until 10:30 am this morning, and the upper portion of the terrain park, Wild Side, will be a delayed opening.
In addition, Laura from Greg and The Morning Buzz will be visiting the mountain today in order to participate in our Bebe Woods Free Learn to Ski and Ride program. Once her lesson is over, she'll be hanging out in the Stone Hearth Bar, hosting the Von Trapp Brewery Tap Takeover! There will be plenty of great beer, as well as a handful of giveaways. On top of all that, New Hampshire band Supernothing will be providing tunes for the event. It's going to be a great day. We'll see you out there!Last Edited by Ragged Mountain on Saturday, January 20, 2018

Happy Wednesday! What better way to celebrate the middle of the week than with some snow? Today's forecast calls for snow showers throughout the day with temps in the mid to upper 20's. We can expect the snow showers to wrap up near midday, but that doesn't mean the fun has to stop. Why not head up to the Stone Hearth Bar for a cold glass of Ragged Mountain Red, brewed by the Flying Goose? Pair it up with some homemade Angus Beef chili to complete your meal!
Also in the Stone Hearth Bar, this coming Saturday New Hampshire band Supernothing will be joining us to provide the tunes for a tap takeover brought to you by the folks over at Von Trapp Brewery. After all those warm temperatures, nothing excites us more than seeing snow on the forecast, and that's just what they're calling for tomorrow! Today will be cloudy with some snow flurries, but tonight, another storm system moves in and should help us to recharge following that January Thaw. We're helping Mother Nature along, too. Snowmaking continues on Wild Side and Wild Ride today to help our Terrain Park crew put together a top notch terrain park. While you're riding up the 6-Pack, you may even notice that there are some snow cannons in place on Exhibition. It won't be long now before our team shifts their focus to one of our favorite trails. Flying Yankee will also be closed for race training throughout the day, so be certain to check out some other fan favorites, like Lower Ridge or Showboat!Last Edited by Ragged Mountain on Tuesday, January 16, 2018
The Pinnacle Plunge Tubing Park will open today! We're starting with 4 lanes of over 700 feet of rolling, speed inducing, fun! Check out our Pinnacle Plunge page for more information including session times and pricing.
The weather looks fantastic for today, with temps in the mid to upper teens and mostly sunny. Spend your day cruising around Ragged and Spear peaks taking in the views and enjoying the skiing and riding. When you need to recharge, head on up to the Birches Mountain Restaurant for lunch. Today, try a Hot Bowl like the fan favorite Pho Noodle Bowl, a Miso broth base loaded with fresh veggies and your choice of meat. A healthy and hearty way to warm up and refuel for the rest of the afternoon. When your done, check out the increased selection of Flying Goose beers. Brewed just minutes down the road in New London, Flying Goose has a wide selection of tasty beers. New on tap is the Jabberwocky Brown and Oatmeal Stout!
Enjoy the day!Last Edited by Ragged Mountain on Monday, January 15, 2018
It appears that Mother Nature has come to her senses and decided that in January it should be cold! Thank you, Mother!
That means, we're bringing back the snow. The guns have been turned back on in the park as we build some big piles so the Terrain Park Crew can build a killer park for everyone to enjoy. Both Wild Ride and Wild Side will remain open, but the features have been removed and snowmaking efforts will be on going for the next couple of days. The team has also kicked the guns back on over in the Pinnacle Plunge Tubing Park and we hope to have that open soon. Once efforts in the terrain park and tubing park have been completed the team will move efforts back over to Exhibition and Birches.
Make sure you stop into either Stone Hearth as we feature one of our favorite breweries around, the Flying Goose! Adding to our standard line up of the Ragged Mountain Red and Long Brother's IPA will be the amazing Jabberwocky Brown and the Oatmeal Stout, great beers to sit by the fire and warm up with! Grab a great meal today in the Birches Mountain Restaurant which will be open 11 am to 7 pm. Try the Poutine, it's fantastic! Plus, both locations will have Sunday NFL Divisional Round Playoff Games playing.
Have a great day out there!Last Edited by Ragged Mountain on Sunday, January 14, 2018
Well, it's been an interesting past 24 hours. Mother Nature thought she would play some Jimmy Buffet, and while sipping some margaritas she obviously turned up the heat... way to much.
Fortunately our team makes SNOW, and when they make it they make a lot of it. The team got to work early and have been able to quickly get Ragged Peak back in shape and it will be opening this morning. Love to see those four groomers in action, including our new Bison-X.
There is a bit more work to do to get Barnyard and Spear open, but the team has already moved efforts to those two areas. Keep posted to our Slope Report as we continue to update.
Looking ahead, snowmaking will resume this evening and Mother Nature looks like she will be returning to her normal winter self and might grace us with some natural snow.
Last Edited by Ragged Mountain on Saturday, January 13, 2018
We will have a delayed opening today as the team is out doing a bit of resurfacing on the trails. Please keep an eye on our slope report and right here on our blog for further updates.Last Edited by Ragged Mountain on Saturday, January 13, 2018
It happens every year, the January thaw. Today will climb up into the 50's and looks to be a little bit wet. The good news is with the amount of snow we've received early this season, and the amount that the snowmakers have been able to make conditions will hold up just fine. Today's snow will be spring like, with some variable conditions and wet snow. We have closed the natural terrain for the day to help preserve some of our natural snow fall.
Looking ahead to next week, the temps will drop back down and we should be able to fire up the guns again to finish making snow on Exhibition, Birches, and Town Meeting. And there might even be a little assistance from good ol' Mother Nature too!

It's been a great week so far. The warmer temps have soften the snow and the skiing and riding has been tremendous. We certainly hope you've been able to skip a day of work or school and join us. Whether you're carving deep trenches on the groomers, popping off of the natural moguls on Upper Crewcut or Sweepstakes, or are dropping into one of the glades, you're sure to have a big smile on your face by the time you back in the lift line.
Snowmaking has continued through the night both on Ragged Peak, and on the Pinnacle Plunge Tubing Park which, weather permitting, will open this weekend. Look for further updates on tubing session times and pricing on our tubing page. This has us really excited for a great MLK weekend, and we look forward to seeing you up here enjoying the skiing, riding, & tubing!Last Edited by Ragged Mountain on Thursday, January 11, 2018
The Mountain Ops team has resumed snowmaking efforts over the past couple of days on Upper and Lower Exhibition, Birches, and Town Meeting. They're also continuing to make snow over on the Pinnacle Plunge Snow Tubing Park, with the goal of having that open soon. Conditions are still great from top to bottom and from the groomers to the trees.
With MLK Weekend this weekend we are sure to have some great things happening at the Mountain, including a visit from our friends at the Allagash Brewery from Portland ME. Make sure to stop into the Stone Hearth Bar this Saturday to grab a mug or pint of Allagash's great beers and possibly score some swag from them.
If you haven't purchased your tickets yet for MLK Weekend, make sure to do that soon. Purchasing tickets online here, will help you save some money. The earlier you buy, the more you save!Last Edited by Ragged Mountain on Wednesday, January 10, 2018
After the arctic blast last week, it going to seem like it's down right balmy out today with the temps in the low 30's. Conditions are still holding up in the trees and on all natural terrain, so make sure you get out there and explore all that Ragged has to offer.
One of the best things about Ragged Mountain Resort is the tree skiing and riding that we have. If you are unsure of how to ski or ride gladed trails, or are looking to take the skills you have to the next level, talk to our Learning Center about an advanced private lesson. Our professional, certified instructors can help you progress from occasionally dipping into the trees to a Ragged Glades Hero. Check out more on our Learning Center here.

If you haven't heard yet, we are at 91% open, and it's still just the beginning of January! We've been blessed this winter with some amazing natural snowfall and very cold temps which have allowed our Mountain Ops crew to make a ton of snow. Snowmaking operations will be moving back over to Ragged Peak to finish out on Exhibition and Birches. They have also started making snow on the Pinnacle Plunge Tubing Park, which we hope to open soon.
Make sure to mark your calendar with the great events we have going on this month, including the Tap Takeovers from Allagash and Von Trapp Breweries happening in the Stone Hearth Bar, and Ski New Hampshire Weekend on the 27th and 28th. The winds are dying down and the temps will be rising! Spear is now 100% open for business, including Flying Yankee and all Spear Peak Glades! There should be plenty of fresh left in those woods, go get it.
It will still be very cold first thing this morning, so make sure you layer up and make sure all skin is covered. By midday the temps will have climbed back up above the zero mark and it should be very nice.
Take a time out to have an Allagash beer up in the Stone Hearth Bar or have a great meal in the Birches Mountain Restaurant while the Wild Card Weekend playoff games are on.Last Edited by Ragged Mountain on Sunday, January 07, 2018
That's right, it's cold. Please be sure to bundle up and cover all skin. The conditions will be great out there, but due to the extreme cold and high winds, frost bite is a major concern today and any exposed skin will be susceptible in a matter of minutes.
We will have plenty of hot cocoa, soup, and other items to help keep you warm. Take plenty of breaks and keep your body fueled!
The Spear Mountain Express is currently on a wind hold due to the high sustained winds and even higher gusts. We anticipate that it will remain on wind hold throughout the day.Last Edited by Ragged Mountain on Saturday, January 06, 2018
Grayson has graced Ragged with over 12 inches of new snow allowing us to drop the ropes on many of our natural terrain, which due to the winds seemed to refill non-stop yesterday. Most open terrain was groomed last night, but Showboat was left natural after the storm. Ski Patrol will be assessing the conditions today after last nights wind to see if there are more trails that can be opened today.
After banging through the trees all morning, make sure to stop by the Harvest Cafe to warm up with some hearty soup or chili served in a fresh bread bowl. Tons of calories and warmth to recharge you for the afternoon! Also make sure to grab a new Cardigan Kolsch from Henniker, a crisp light beer made just for Ragged Mountain!Last Edited by Ragged Mountain on Friday, January 05, 2018
Come one, come all. With a forecast of 8" to 12" inches of snow falling today, things will get real fun real quick. Keep an eye on our Snow Report for any openings that take place throughout the day. Happy January 3rd! Today, we're forecast to finally get some warmer temps, with highs in the upper teens to lower 20's, so get out there and enjoy the sunshine. As a result of all those cold temps, the snow is amazing, making for some fantastic conditions out there on the slopes.
The Spear Mountain Express will be undergoing some maintenance in the morning, and as a result will be experiencing a delayed opening. Maintenance should be wrapping up around midday, but check back frequently for updates to the status of the lift.

...And all across the resort, conditions are holding because our mountain ops team ROCKS!
Conditions today will be a soft, frozen granular surface which will be very fun to carve some turns in. While some may see yesterday’s freezing rain as a bad thing, it has actually helped in a couple of ways. One it helped to generate a nice firm base in the woods which will be great for the New Year and tree skiing/riding. Two it recharged our snowmaking ponds giving us more water as we look to continue the snowmaking program on Spear this week. What does all this mean… with the cold temps and snow in the forecast for this week, the skiing and riding for the holiday week should be fantastic!

What a day yesterday was, and today is shaping up to be just as fantastic. Conditions are fantastic following the 12" of fresh snowfall we received yesterday. Following the storm system, temperatures dropped a little more, so today's highs will likely only be in the mid to upper 20's, with wind chills in the lower to mid teens. Make sure to dress warm and keep an eye out for frostbite -- that wind can be biting!
The Pop Up Terrain Park has been removed from Village Green, but our Park Crew is hard at work putting in some new features. In addition to the Park Crew's efforts, our groomers and snowmakers have been working hard to open up some trails over the next few days, so be sure to check back frequently for updates regarding new terrain!Last Edited by Ragged Mountain on Wednesday, December 13, 2017
Today is Tuesday, December 12th, and it's snowing! We're forecast to receive anywhere between 8 - 12" inches, and we could not be more excited about it. It's supposed to dump all day, so be certain to check back here frequently for updates regarding snowfall totals and any new terrain. It is the perfect opportunity for you to cash in one of those vacation days and ski some fresh snow!
While you're out chasing the powder, it's important to remember to stay hydrated. Be sure to stop by the Harvest Café to pick up a soft drink and a snack for some fuel to get you back out and charging some fresh lines.Last Edited by Ragged Mountain on Tuesday, December 12, 2017
What better way to kick the week off than with some great conditions and freshly made snow? Temperatures look good for us to keep the guns going, so the skiing and riding is only going to get better! There's also another storm system on the forecast that we've got our eyes on, so be sure to check back for updates regarding any new snowfall.
Expect temperatures to be in the lower to mid 30's today with partly cloudy skies.
If you're looking for someplace to shred, be sure to check out the hike only, Pop Up Terrain Park on the lower part of Village Green where we have a couple of features set up for you to session. What better way to get some practice in for our first park event, The Squared Up Railjam, Featuring DJ Scrumptious!
And if you're getting a little chilly skiing under the snow guns, why not stop by the Harvest Café for some nice hot cocoa to warm up.
As the weekend comes to a close and more snow begins to fall from the sky, we think about how great it feels to be back on the slopes! What a fun day, and what a great start to the 2017/18 season.

It’s our second weekend of the season which is looking like it will be a great one. With 3 to 5 inches of snow forecasted to fall between today and tomorrow, we might get some fun fresh turns out there pretty early in the season. The snowmaking team has continued to push the guns full blast the past few days and will continue to do so while the temps remain on the favorable side. The goal is to get more terrain opening as soon as we can. This storm and the one forecasted for early next week will only help!
If you didn’t see the Facebook video of our Assistant Learning Center Director, David Binford, doing his snow dance, check it out. Not only is it funny, but it also seems to have worked! Thanks Bin!
Speaking of dancing, make sure you head on up to the Stone Hearth Bar this afternoon for live music from The Just Because Band! They will be playing from 4 pm to 7 pm, plus there are still some $3 beer specials available. Get them before they’re gone.Last Edited by Ragged Mountain on Saturday, December 09, 2017
It looks to be another beautiful day for skiing and riding here at the mountain. The Mountain Ops team has sure put in a lot of work to make sure the conditions are good, and they’ve done a brilliant job of it considering all the rain we received earlier in the week.
Today will be in the lower 30’s and partly cloudy. The colder temps have returned and we’ve started making snow again. The team is currently focused on Barnyard, Upper Ridge, Newfound Ridge, Main Street, Headwall, and Lower Chutes. Look for new terrain opening soon!
Make sure you head on up to Stone Hearth where the $3 draft and bottle beer special is still going on. Also, try one of the new flatbreads, each named after one of our favorite trails featuring great toppings that are sure to please!Last Edited by Ragged Mountain on Friday, December 08, 2017
We are open today with top to bottom trails from the summit of Ragged Peak. Today, thank a groomer, snowmaker, lift attendant, and ski patrol as they have worked hard after the freezing rain we received the other night to get the mountain back into tip top shape for skiing and riding.
Once you’ve cruised a few runs and need to rest your legs, swing up to the Stone Hearth Bar where there are great flatbreads, nachos, and chili that will help warm you up, plus our $3 draft and bottle beer special is still going on… You can’t beat that!
Enjoy the day out there, it will be a nice one.Last Edited by Ragged Mountain on Thursday, December 07, 2017
